Map Measure · Karte messen

Short version: Map Measure runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad. We don't have a server, we don't track you, we don't include any analytics SDKs, and we don't require an account. Apple Maps powers the satellite tiles and the address search — those requests go to Apple under Apple's own privacy policy. That's it.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for any personal data processing in connection with this app and website (Art. 4 (7) GDPR) is:

Teller & Teller GbR
Untere Dorfstr. 15

Email: map-measure (at) sysdex (dot) de

2. What the app processes

Measurements you create

Every measurement (points, curves, titles, units) is stored locally in SwiftData on your device. No copy is sent to us, to Apple or to any third party. If you delete the app, the data is gone.

Location (optional)

If you tap the "user location" button, the app asks iOS for your current GPS position via CoreLocation. The position is only used to center the map; it is never transmitted to a server and never stored. iOS asks for your permission the first time. You can revoke permission any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Map Measure.

Map tiles & address search

Satellite imagery and standard map tiles are loaded from Apple Maps. When you type into the search field, your query is sent to Apple's MKLocalSearch service. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we never see them.

Saving to Photos / sharing

When you export a measurement and choose "Save to Photos", iOS asks for permission to write to your Photo Library. The image is written locally; we never receive it. Sharing via Mail, Messages or other Share-Sheet activities is handled by the respective service.

3. What the app does not do

The app's Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares no data collection. The only "Required Reason" we declare is CA92.1 — access to UserDefaults for app-private settings such as your preferred units, map style, and the "tutorial seen" flag.

4. This website

The hosting provider may keep standard HTTP access logs (IP, timestamp, requested URL, user-agent, referrer). These logs are used solely for operational security and stability, and are deleted after a short retention period. We don't use cookies, no analytics, no ad scripts, no third-party fonts. The pages are static HTML.

5. Legal basis

Where the app's interaction does involve a third party — specifically when satellite tiles are loaded from Apple Maps or you submit a search query to MKLocalSearch — the legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract: providing the measurement app you installed) and Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest: providing a usable map service).

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

Note: since we do not collect personal data, there is typically nothing for us to access, rectify or erase. Reach out via the contact above if you have any question.

7. Changes

We may update this policy if the app's behaviour materially changes (for example if we ever added a server backend — which we don't currently plan). Material changes will be announced on this page; the date of the last revision is below.
